THE government has gazetted the amended Land Code that bans non-Bruneians from buying or transferring land through the power of attorney (PA) or trust deeds.
On June 2, the Land Code (Amendment) Order 2016 was gazetted on the Attorney General’s Chambers’ website, but the revised laws will only come into effect at a later date.
Permanent Secretary of Development (Administration and Finance) Hj Muhammad Lutfi Abdullah said the PA will no longer be practised in Brunei under the law change.
He said non-citizens were not allowed to purchase land even before the amendment.
