Water taxis concerned with bridge’s impact on income

WATER taxi drivers in Kampong Ayer have expressed concerns with the impact of the bridge connecting Jalan Residency to Kampung Sungai Kebun on their income.

Hasrin Sulaiman, one of the water taxi operators, said he is worried his earnings would decrease with the completion of the bridge as many of his passengers are from Kg Sg Kebun.

“Usually I would earn $50-70 daily just from these customers (from Sg Kebun) but when the bridge is open soon, I might lose them as well as my daily income,” said the 34-year-old.
